Too Blessed to be stressed!

Well, exactly 10 days ago I was crowned Miss Kansas 2011 and I hit the ground running let me tell you. I have been on KWCH and KSN, shot a commercial for our wonderful sponsor Mel Hambleton Ford, had a photoshoot, and have written tons of Thank you's.

I am currently working on my preparation for Miss America 2012. I have been really busy with planning upcoming events, getting in touch with some VIP's, and keeping my mind focused on the big picture. This is what I signed up for though, so I can't complain because I am having too much fun, I knew this was hard work. I also know this is a microphone to help me accomplish more than I could by myself. I am currently working on publishing my book, which will hopefully be very soon. Keep your fingers crossed! I am very excited about the Princess parties which were started last year, I am hopeful that these parties will continue to grow our princess program (a mentoring program for young girls). This has been a great way to promote my platform "Empowering Youth". I get a chance to talk with these girls about the importance of service and volunteering. I also get to talk with them about what it means to be a princess. It isn't all about the glitz and glam. The four points of the crown stand for Scholarship, Service, Success, and Style and I personally think that the most important is Service.  I think it is important for the youth of today (especially young girls) to understand this. These girls look up to Miss America and think she is 'so pretty' and want to be just like her. But it isn't just about looks, It is far greater than that. The women of this organization are radiant from the fire from within. That fire comes from what they are most passionate about. We should encourage that fire in our youth. Help them to find a cause that they are passionate about, and then maybe they will have a different outlook on what a "Princess" truly is.
